On July 9th, 2020, at the invitation of Professor Feng Shi, the State Key Laboratory of Chemical Resources Engineering, Professor Lian Duan, the Department of Chemistry, Tsinghua University, gave us a brilliant lecture about Opportunities and Challenges of Organic Light Emitting Display through the Tencent conference.
In the lecture, Professor Lian Duan gave us a simple explanation of the development history, basic principles, and development frontier of organic light emitting display (OLED).           Compared with LEDs, the OLED spectrum is closer to the natural spectrum and there is no blue harm, so it is more beneficial to human health, however, there are technical bottlenecks such as material design difficulties and serious roll-off of efficiency. Therefore, Professor Lian Duan's group proposed a new luminescence mechani** of thermally activated sensitized luminescence. Using thermally activated delayed fluorescence (TADF) material as the main body to sensitize traditional luminescent materials, low-voltage, high-efficiency, low-efficiency roll-off, and long-life OLED devices were prepared, breaking through the problem of incompatibility between high conversion efficiency and high luminous efficiency in TADF materials.
At the end of the report, teachers and students have in-depth communication with Professor Lian Duan in different directions.
Profile of Professor Lian Duan:
Lian Duan, Professor of the Department of Chemistry, Tsinghua University. He graduated from the Department of Chemistry of Tsinghua University in 2003 with a Ph.D. He is mainly engaged in the research of organic optoelectronic materials and devices related fields, published more than 210 papers, and authorized more than 100 domestic and international patents. As the second accomplisher, he won the first prize of the 2011 National Technology Invention Award.
